Job Description

at Department of Corrections in Vienna, Illinois, United States Job Description Position Overview The Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking an Account Technician I at Vienna Correctional Center. This position is responsible for maintaining inventory records, including commodities, raw materials, repair parts, etc. In addition, they will update fiscal reports, maintain accounting books, assist business office staff, execute, prepare and check for mathematical accuracy on all documents for payment, and prepare monthly payroll for individuals in custody. We invite all qualified applicants to apply. Essential Functions Maintains all inventory records including commodities, raw materials, repair parts, etc. Updates various fiscal reports. Maintains accounting books. Assists business office staff in preparing various reports involving budget, expenditures, etc. Executes, prepares, and checks for mathematical accuracy of all documents for payment of expenses including contracts, quarterly and annual blanket requisitions. Prepares monthly individuals in custody payroll. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college and completion of an approved training course or three (3) years of related clerical bookkeeping experience. Qualifying state employees in the employee Upward Mobility Program, may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this classification. Preferred Qualifications Prefers at least one (1) year of work experience involving inventory of commodities and raw materials. Prefers at least one (1) year of work experience auditing various fiscal reports. Prefers at least one (1) year of work experience maintaining accounting records. Prefers at least one (1) year of work experience preparing various reports involving commodities transfers, budget, and expenditure reports. Prefers at least one (1) year of work experience investigating open purchase orders. Prefers at least one (1) year of work experience utilizing an automated accounting system. Prefers at least one (1) year of work experience preparing payroll reports. Conditions of Employment Requires ability to pass the
IDOC / IDJJ
background check. Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited. Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.
