The position involves providing structured literacy intervention and academic therapy services to students with dyslexia and related language-based learning differences. Will implement evidence-based interventions, conduct screenings, collaborate with school staff, and support student progress through high-fidelity, individualized instruction aligned to the Texas Dyslexia Handbook andIDEA/504
frameworks.Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's degree required; preferred in Special Education
- Master's degree preferred in special education.
- Valid or eligible to receive Texas Special Education EC-12 Certification
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for assignment
Experience:
- Minimum of six year's experience preferred
- at least 3 years teaching experience in
Special Education Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Deep understanding of structured literacy, multisensory instruction, and dyslexia intervention (Take Flight, Build, Rite Flight, Jet)
- Knowledge of the Texas Dyslexia Handbook and state/federal dyslexia mandates
- Experience developing and delivering individualized intervention plans, individualized education plans, and PLAAFP statements
- Strong collaboration, documentation, and progress monitoring skills
- Knowledge of reading, writing, and spelling instructional strategies
- Knowledge of the Admission, Re, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goal setting process and implementation
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and use student data to assess students for dyslexia
- Strong organizational,munication, and interpersonal skills
Salary Range:
State Base Plus:
- $3,000 above base stipend
- Recruitment and Retention Bonus of $1,000
- 1st year, $1,500
- 2nd year, $2,500
- 3rd year.
- Yearly bonuses ranging from $1,000 to $5,000
- District Contributes $375/month toward health insurance
- $10,000 Life Policy
- District has a scholarship endowment for all students of WVISD of $2,600 for every year student is in attendance. ($33,800 for K-12 student continuously enrolled)
