About Us:
The Children's Center, a non-profit agency, is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of young children, one family at a time. Our mission is to nurture and educate children and their families. We provide opportunities for education, parenting support and resources to families in our communities. The Children's Center Head Start/Early Head Start is a federally funded program that provides no cost services to qualifying families who reside in the community. Comprehensive services are provided to pregnant women and their partners and children from birth to 5. Child development, health and family services are provided through a variety of program options designed to meet the needs of low-income and at-risk families. About the
Job:
The Children's Center is looking for highly motivated individuals to join our EI team! Our preschool program builds the solid academic foundation students need for future success. In our school, classes are led by a dedicated, caring team of teachers who value open communication with parents. Our preschool offers the perfect balance of learning and play, combining structured learning experiences with play activities designed for each developmental stage. Our Special Educators... Coordinate and advocate for services to support client families. Provide direct developmental services to children, modeling strategies and coaching families. Develop and implement Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) tailored to each child's and family's unique needs. Collaborate with community agencies to connect families with essential resources and support services. Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and charts, ensuring compliance with agency standards. Guide parents and caregivers in designing learning environments and curriculum plans that promote development. Record, interpret, and report on developmental growth and progress for each client. Assist in evaluating client eligibility for agency programs and services. Educate and support agency staff on developmental service-related topics and practices. Participate in in-service training programs and agency quality assurance initiatives. Perform related duties as assigned to support team and client success. We are most interested in applicants who… Have 1-3 years of experience and knowledge of speech therapy and practices. Have CPR/First Aid training Flexibility with work hours and scheduling Positive attitude and strong work ethic
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field. Virginia Teaching License Experience working with children with developmental delays or disabilities. Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with families, collegues, and community partners.
