Salary Range:
$125,000-$145,000 OVERVIEW To serve as the instructional architect of the district's Early Literacy MTSS framework, ensuring that 100% of students reach grade-level reading proficiency by the end of Grade 3 through evidence-based Tier 1 instruction and precision intervention.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Systemic Leadership & Vision
Strategic Planning:
Develop and oversee a 3-5 year Early Literacy Success Plan aligned with the District Improvement Plan (DIP).
MTSS Governance:
Lead the District MTSS Leadership and Reading Teams to ensure a shared vision of literacy success across all elementary buildings.
Compliance:
Manage all State Literacy Compliance mandates, including universal screening requirements and Title 1 literacy outreach Instructional Oversight (Tier 1 & HQIM)
Fidelity Monitoring:
Conduct regular "Instructional Rounds" and walkthroughs focused on High-Quality Instructional Materials with directors and Assistant Superintendent (e.g., Fundations, Heggerty, and Wit & Wisdom).
Principal Coaching:
Partner with building leaders to provide PD and follow-up walkthroughs, ensuring principals can effectively evaluate and support ELA instruction.
Alignment:
Coordinate with external partners (e.g., HILL for Literacy) to ensure district practices reflect the "Science of Reading." Data-Based Decision Making
Deep Analysis:
Lead 5x yearly district ELA data meetings, disaggregating screening results by subgroup to identify and close opportunity gaps.
Early Warning Systems:
Implement and monitor early warning indicators to trigger immediate Student Achievement Team (SAT) reviews.
Cycle of Improvement:
Facilitate PDSA (Plan-Do-Study-Act) cycles within PLCs to ensure data results in immediate instructional shifts. Intervention & Capacity Building
Intervention Inventory:
Assemble and maintain a district-wide inventory of evidence-based Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions matched to specific phonological, phonics, and fluency skill gaps.
Teacher Coaching:
Provide side-by-side coaching and modeling for interventionists and classroom teachers on high-leverage literacy routines.
Scheduling:
Audit and optimize master schedules to protect Tier 1 core time and maximize "WIN" (What I Need) intervention blocks. Equity & Community Partnerships
Equity Audits:
Conduct an annual literacy equity review to ensure all students have equal access to HQIM and culturally responsive instruction.
Family Agency:
Develop a standardized communication system for families regarding MTSS progress; lead Title 1 family outreach in home languages.
Liaison Work:
Serve as the primary liaison for McKinney-Vento and DCF-involved students to ensure continuity of literacy services.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Master's Degree in Reading, Curriculum & Instruction, and/or Educational Leadership.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of successful primary classroom teaching, 12+ years in a coaching or leadership (principal preferred) role, varied experience in adult professional development at the college level
Certification:
Valid State Reading Specialist, Administrator license (Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent, All Levels, Principal/Assistant Principal) and/or Elementary Education, (1-6) Administrator SEI Endorsement
Expertise:
Deep knowledge of the Science of Reading, MTSS frameworks, and data-analysis tools (e.g., m
CLASS, DIBELS, MCAS
).
