Location:
North Andover High School Position Overview We are seeking an organized, proactive, and leadership-oriented Director of Academic Summer School. You will be the "architect" of the summer session, ensuring that the transition from the regular academic year to the summer program is seamless. This role manages everything from the "big picture" logistics of credit recovery to the day-to-day support of our teaching staff and families. Core Responsibilities Program Administration & Registration
Enrollment Management:
Oversee the student registration process, ensuring students are placed in the correct sessions (Session 1 or Session 2) based on academic need.
Credit Tracking:
Partner with school counselors to verify credit recovery requirements and ensure all completed summer coursework is accurately recorded and transferred to permanent transcripts.
Scheduling:
Finalize master schedules for students and teachers, ensuring optimal class sizes and subject distribution. Instructional Leadership
Teacher Management:
Recruit, hire, and onboard the summer teaching staff. Provide ongoing support and brief instructional "check-ins" to ensure high-quality teaching.
Curriculum Oversight:
Ensure that English, Math, and Science curricula meet district standards for credit attainment.
Conflict Resolution:
Serve as the primary point of contact for classroom management issues or student concerns escalated by teachers. Caregiver & Community Outreach
Communication Hub:
Act as the primary liaison between the school and home. Send weekly updates to caregivers regarding program highlights, attendance, and upcoming deadlines.
Student Support:
Conduct proactive outreach to families of students who are struggling with attendance or academic performance to ensure they stay on track to earn credit. Operational Oversight
Attendance Monitoring:
Supervise the daily check-in/check-out process for students and staff.
Safety & Environment:
Ensure a safe, focused learning environment that complies with all school and district safety protocols. Required Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of classroom teaching experience; prior administrative or leadership experience (e.g., Department Head, Dean, or Lead Teacher) is highly preferred.
Education:
Master's degree in Educational Leadership or School Administration preferred.
Technical Proficiency:
Experience with Student Information Systems (SIS) like PowerSchool, Infinite Campus, or Skyward for registration and grade tracking.
Communication:
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on empathy and clarity when dealing with families. Compensation & Hours Pre-Program (June 15

$45/hr not to exceed 110 hours
