  • Full-time #carga Express is looking for a Electrical Discharge Machinist to set up, program, operate, and maintain precision Electrical Discharge Machines and related CNC equipment to manufacture high-tolerance components for advanced tooling applications.
This individual will work with complex part geometries, tight tolerances, and technical drawings to produce consistent, high-quality results within defined production timelines. The ideal candidate is an experienced machinist who thrives in a high-accountability, quality-driven environment. Must have wire machining experience Key Responsibilities Program, set up, and operate Wire EDM machines to manufacture precision components to print specifications. Interpret complex blueprints, tool drawings, and CAD models to determine machining strategies and setup requirements. Select appropriate tooling, electrodes, fixtures, and offsets to achieve close tolerances and surface finishes to spec. Conduct first-piece and in-process inspections using precision equipment (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, comparators). Monitor machine performance and adjust feeds, speeds, and parameters for maximum accuracy and efficiency. Maintain accurate production and inspection records Perform preventive maintenance and minor troubleshooting on EDM and CNC equipment to ensure optimal performance and uptime. Perform the inspection/triage of used woodworking tools for resharpening. Support cross-training efforts in related machining areas (e.g., grinding, balancing, as needed.) Adhere to all safety, quality, and lean manufacturing standards. Be available for overtime as needed to meet production schedules.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Proven ability to set up and operate complex EDM jobs independently, including workpiece alignment, fixturing, and zeroing. Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, tool prints, and CAD/CAM outputs. Experience maintaining tight tolerances and high surface finishes on production parts. Strong math skills and understanding of as it relates to machining. Proficient in using standard inspection instruments. Stable work history and demonstrated reliability. Excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to work collaboratively in a lean, quality-focused environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience with advanced EDM controls CAM programming experience Familiarity with tooling for carbide and diamond components or similar advanced materials. Experience in a precision tooling, aerospace, or medical manufacturing environment. Continuous improvement mindset, including participation in lean manufacturing or process improvement initiatives. Basic knowledge of shop ERP/MRP systems for job tracking and documentation. Education High school diploma or GED required. Technical degree or apprenticeship in machining or manufacturing technology preferred.
