The Education Liaison supports educational services for children in out of home care for Seminole and Osceola counties. This position ensures children's educational needs are met by facilitating statutorily required staffings, assisting case management in getting children enrolled in school, ensuring educational records are up to date, advocating for appropriate services and accommodations for children in a school setting, and establishing partnerships with Seminole and Osceola county school staff.Technical/Functional Expectations:
1. Educational ContinuityEssential Function:
Ensures educational continuity and legal compliance for children involved in the child welfare system through Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA- informed decision-making and coordinated advocacy. 2. Advocacy
Essential Function:
Advocates effectively for children's rights under Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) Section 504, and related educational protections. 3. Collaborative RelationshipsEssential Function:
Build and sustain collaborative relationships across education and child welfare systems. 4. Case Management GuidanceEssential Function:
Provide guidance to case management in obtaining education support for children in out of home care. 5. ReportsEssential Function:
Monitor/Prepare all required documentation and submit within the required timeframes. 6. DocumentationEssential Function:
Ensure documentation occurs within the SACWIS system and other related systems within required timeframes. 7. Engagement
Essential Function:
Adherence to the local SOC values, goals and priorities for FPOCF children, youth and families; Utilize a family centered strength-based approach to care. 8.Other duties as required:

Qualifications 1. This position requires a valid driver's license. 2. Two years of experience in education within the public or private school system 3. Two years of experience in child welfare preferred 4.Computer skills required:
This position will be required to work in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, FSFN, and other agency systems.Educational Requirements:
1. BA/BS required in education or human services related field.Physical Requirements:
