ACDS Westchester in Pelham, NY is a full-day special needs preschool program that offers a wide range of therapies to children ages 3-5. In addition to the preschool curriculum, children receive center-based physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. We also provide family training and counseling. We provide a nurturing and supportive environment and offer our families education and encouragement to help their children reach their goals. ACDS Westchester is seeking a passionate and dedicated Education Supervisor to join our team at our special needs preschool in Pelham, NY. We are looking for a dynamic individual to lead and support our educational staff in providing high-quality, individualized instruction. Full-time position, 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
Schedule:
Monday through Thursday 8:00am to 4:00pm Occasional evenings required
Summary:
The Educational Supervisor acts as a liaison between the Principal and the classrooms of the school, assisting with classroom oversight and function. The role also supports instructional quality by coaching teachers and teaching assistants on classroom routines, classroom management, behavior-support strategies, and family communication. This position will report to the Principal and closely collaborate with the secondary Educational Supervisor, Clinical Supervisor and In-take Coordinator. Essential Role & Responsibilities Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Stepping into classrooms to assist with instruction and coverage as needed Supporting classroom flow, transitions, and school routines Mentoring and coaching teaching staff in classroom management best practices Collaborating with Principal and secondary Education Supervisor to assist with staff coverage, and schedules Reviewing teacher annual reports-focusing on ensuring that the listed needs are appropriate and match the goals Attend annual review meetings - with a particular focus on assisting uncertified teachers Communication Maintain strong, professional communication with teachers and teaching assistants, as well as clerical and administrative staff. Keep the Principal and secondary Educational Supervisor informed of issues that may affect program quality, compliance, or student outcomes. Foster effective collaboration Clinical Supervisor and In-take Coordinator to ensure seamless delivery of services. Demonstrate the ability to function in a culturally sensitive and inclusive manner in alignment with ACDS's philosophy and mission. Qualifications:
NYS Teaching Certification in Students with Disabilities B-2 or Students with Disabilities All Grades. Master's Degree in Special Education. A minimum of 5 years of classroom experience and behavior management expertise. Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with experience guiding and mentoring staff members. Ability to adapt and manage a variety of responsibilities in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (Spanish bilingualism is a plus). Ability to effectively work with interdisciplinary teams and a range of educational professionals. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
