Job Description

The Upward Bound Core Instructor will report to the Project Director and Project Coordinator and serve as a liaison for program participants and project personnel. The Upward Bound Summer Core Instructor will conduct instruction in subject area through printed and hands on assignments that enhance participant learning.
Works Hours:
Varies, up to 19 per week. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications and must submit a complete application packet through the on-line application system to be considered. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted before the deadline, but official transcripts must be received if employed.) Application materials must provide documentation that the applicant meets all minimum qualifications. Applicants must provide information from previous employers documenting full-time related work experience if an offer is made. 1. Provide core subject instruction for all participants in Summer Component. 2. Conduct instruction in subject area through printed and hands-on assignments that enhance participant learning. 3. Assist with the time/attendance records for instruction sessions. 4. Provide documentation of core subject content taught in instruction sessions. 5. Perform other functions as assigned by Project Director and Project Coordinator essential for the improvement of participant academic performance.

EXPERIENCE 1. A
minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the subject area is required . 2. A minimum of 1 year of experience teaching the subject area is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
1. Excellent oral and written communication skills. 2. Possess a personality that accentuates and expresses appreciation for subject area. 3. Knowledge directly related to Upward Bound objectives. 4. Ability to multi-task and prioritize issues. 5. Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to prescribed routines. 6. A keen attention to detail. 7. Skill in operating a mouse to control a computer. 8.Skill in operating a computer. 9. Skill in utilizing a phone system. 10. Ability to work and communicate with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds 11. Ability to make decisions based on correspondence, data or other information. 12. Ability to utilize email systems to communicate information. 13. Ability to work with minimal supervision/work independently. 14. Ability to operate in a professional manner at all times. 15.Ability to comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees and Bevill State Community College.
