Coaches can work one or both weekend programs depending on availability, making this a great opportunity for someone looking for consistent part-time weekend work with the option to pick up additional hours. In addition to the scheduled programs, coaches can pick up private surf lessons based on their availability and desired workload. Our programs focus on helping surfers build confidence, improve their skills, develop ocean awareness, and become part of a positive surf community. The Programs Kids Surf Program Work with young surfers to build strong fundamentals, ocean confidence, safety awareness, and surfing skills in a fun and encouraging environment. Adult Surf Program Coach adult surfers across beginner and intermediate levels, helping them progress through consistent instruction, individualized feedback, and time in the water. Coaches are welcome to work just the kids program, just the adult program, or both . Unlike a typical first-time surf lesson, these programs are built around ongoing progression . You'll get to know the surfers you coach, follow their development, and help them improve week after week. Responsibilities Help lead recurring weekend group surf sessions for kids and/or adults Coach surfing fundamentals, technique, and ocean safety Provide individualized feedback within a group environment Help surfers set goals and progress their skills over time Assist participants with wetsuits, boards, and other equipment Evaluate ocean conditions and help maintain a safe coaching environment Help with equipment setup and breakdown Create a positive, welcoming, and encouraging atmosphere Communicate effectively with participants, parents, and other coaches What We're Looking For The ideal candidate: Has several years of surfing experience and is confident in a variety of ocean conditions Is reliable and consistently available for their selected weekend program Enjoys working with kids and/or coaching adults Is patient, outgoing, encouraging, and a strong communicator Can balance having fun with maintaining a safe and organized environment Is interested in helping surfers develop their skills over time Previous surf instruction, coaching, teaching, lifeguarding, or youth-program experience is strongly preferred. If you're a strong surfer with limited coaching experience but have the right attitude and communication skills, we're happy to train the right person.
