An Adult Basic Education or Literacy Instructor works with adults, including young adults who are out of school, to improve literacy and strengthen basic skills in reading, writing and math. Helps students to learn English or gain a high school diploma or equivalent certificate. Assesses students' educational levels, skills and goals, and differentiates instruction as needed for adults at different levels in one class. May focus on basic skills as needed for a particular occupation, or assist students with developing study skills or job search skills, or help students connect with social services.
08/25/2025 Description This position will be in Dixie County for morning classes. Administration of the learning process (teaching) is to be accomplished in accordance with Federal regulation, Florida State Law, and Florida Gateway College Board Policies. The primary responsibility of an Instructor at FGC is to the student in the classroom. All other activities must be considered secondary in importance. Minimum Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS
Ability to present information in a coherent manner and the ability to fairly evaluate student retention of that information. Computer literate. Experience using MS Office software, Skype, and FaceTime.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree and valid Florida Teaching Certificate.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Experience teaching Adult Education.
