POSITION TITLE
Adult Education High School Equivalency (HSE) Instructor
SALARY RANGE
Part-Time (20-25 Hours per Week) $25 - hourly contract rate

OVERVIEW
The South Bend Community School Corporation Adult Education Program is seeking a motivated, creative, and student-centered High School Equivalency (HSE) Teacher to provide engaging instruction to adult learners working toward earning their high school equivalency credential. This position includes teaching both morning and evening classes and requires a commitment to helping students from diverse backgrounds achieve their educational, career, and personal goals. The ideal candidate is passionate about adult education, highly professional, adaptable, organized, and dedicated to creating a welcoming learning environment where all students can succeed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
? Plan and deliver high-quality instruction aligned with Indiana Adult Education standards and High School Equivalency preparation requirements. ? Teach adult learners with varying academic levels, learning styles, and cultural backgrounds. ? Create engaging and innovative lessons that promote student persistence, achievement, and measurable skill gains. ? Assess student progress and maintain accurate attendance, assessment, and performance records. ? Manage student data entry, documentation, testing records, and reporting requirements in a timely and accurate manner. ? Maintain organized student files and instructional records in compliance with program, state, and federal requirements. ? Utilize technology and digital learning tools to support instruction. ? Provide individualized support and encouragement to help students overcome barriers to success. ? Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment. ? Collaborate with program staff, advisors, and community partners to support student success. ? Participate in program meetings, staff trainings, and professional development activities throughout the year. ? Maintain compliance with all Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD), Adult Education, and SBCSC policies and procedures. ? Support students in developing educational, career, and workforce readiness skills. ? Demonstrate effective time management by balancing instructional responsibilities, student support, record keeping, and program requirements.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required:
? Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. ? Ability to teach adult learners in a supportive and engaging manner. ? Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. ? Proficiency with basic technology and instructional software. ? Strong attention to detail and ability to manage data and documentation accurately. ? Ability to work both morning and evening schedules as assigned.
Preferred:
? Indiana Teaching License or Adult Education teaching experience. ? Experience working with diverse populations and non-traditional learners. ? Experience teaching High School Equivalency, Adult Basic Education, English Language Learning, or related programs. ? Knowledge of workforce development and career pathways.

Work Schedule ?
Part-time position:
20-25 hours per week ? Instructional hours may include morning and evening classes ? Additional time may be required for lesson planning, assessments, data entry, meetings, and professional development activities.
