Adult Education Training Specialist & Instructor
SALARY RANGE
Part-Time (20-28 Hours Per Week) $25.00-$30.00 Per Hour

OVERVIEW
The South Bend Community School Corporation Adult Education Program is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and relationship-focused Career Pathways & Training Specialist to support students and community members pursuing workforce training opportunities. This position serves as the primary point of contact for individuals interested in career training programs offered by SBCSC Adult Education, including those delivered by third-party training providers. The successful candidate will guide participants through every stage of the training process—from initial inquiry and enrollment through completion, certification, employment placement, and follow-up services. This role requires exceptional communication skills, patience, adaptability, and a strong commitment to helping individuals achieve meaningful career advancement. The ideal candidate is forward-thinking, enjoys building partnerships, and is willing to continuously learn as workforce needs, industries, and economic demands evolve within our community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Student Recruitment and Support ? Serve as the primary contact for individuals interested in workforce training and career advancement opportunities. ? Guide prospective students through program selection, enrollment, funding opportunities, training requirements, and career pathways. ? Maintain regular communication with participants before, during, and after training. ? Monitor participant progress and provide support to encourage successful completion. ? Conduct follow-up activities related to certifications, employment outcomes, and career advancement. ? Assist students in identifying barriers and connecting with appropriate support services. Training Program Administration and Teaching ? Coordinate workforce training programs offered through SBCSC Adult Education and third-party training providers. ? Teach adult learners in a supportive and engaging environment as needed. ? Manage enrollment processes, documentation, scheduling, and reporting requirements. ? Maintain accurate participant records and ensure compliance with funding and program requirements. ? Track training outcomes, certifications earned, employment placements, and participant success metrics. ? Develop and maintain systems to ensure smooth program operations and a positive participant experience. Employer and Community Engagement ? Build and maintain strong relationships with employers, workforce development partners, training providers, and community organizations. ? Meet regularly with businesses to identify workforce needs and training opportunities. ? Support employer-driven training initiatives and customized upskilling opportunities for incumbent workers. ? Represent SBCSC Adult Education at community meetings, workforce events, and partner organizations. ? Deliver presentations to community groups, businesses, and stakeholders regarding available training opportunities and workforce initiatives. Pre-Apprenticeship and Workforce Development ? Support the development and management of state-recognized pre-apprenticeship programs. ? Work closely with state agencies and workforce partners to ensure compliance and program quality. ? Assist with identifying emerging workforce trends and opportunities that benefit students and employers. ? Stay informed about labor market demands, career pathways, and in-demand occupations. ? Recommend new training opportunities that align with community and employer needs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required:
? Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. ? Ability to teach adult learners in a supportive and engaging environment. ? Strong organizational and project management skills. ? Excellent verbal and written communication skills. ? Ability to build relationships with students, employers, community partners, and stakeholders. ? Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. ? Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and database management systems. ? Ability to analyze information, solve problems, and adapt to changing priorities.
Preferred:
? Experience in workforce development, adult education, career services, training programs, or related fields. ? Experience working with grants, state-funded programs, or workforce initiatives. ? Experience with employer engagement and partnership development. ? Knowledge of career pathways, credentialing programs, apprenticeships, or workforce training systems.
