$51,272-64,090 Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake is hiring a Teacher for The Excel Center, our free public high school for adult learners. This role supports students in earning their high school diploma while preparing for post-secondary education and career success. • About the Role Teachers at The Excel Center lead a student-centered, flexible learning environment designed for adult learners with diverse academic backgrounds.

You will meet students w they are—adapting instruction to support individual learning needs and helping them stay engaged, motivated, and on track to graduate. This role combines instruction, mentorship, and collaboration in a team-based environment focused on student success.

• What You'll Do
• Deliver engaging instruction aligned with Maryland Academic Standards
• Design and implement lessons using a mix of instructional strategies, including small group, one-on-one, and blended/online learning
• Create and administer assessments to measure student progress and mastery
• Track attendance and academic performance data to adjust instruction and improve outcomes
• Support students across varying skill levels with individualized learning approaches
• Collaborate with instructional staff to improve curriculum, retention, and school culture
• Communicate student progress regularly with students and team members
• Partner with staff to support student graduation and post-secondary planning
• Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives
• What We're Looking For
• Bachelor's degree in subject area required
• Maryland Teaching License (MSDE)required
• Candidates eligible for provisional certification may be considered
• 2+ years teaching experience preferred
• Experience with high school curriculum preferred
• Experience working with adult learners, non-traditional students, or urban education settings strongly preferred
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Strong instructional and classroom management skills
• Ability to adapt teaching strategies to diverse learning needs
• Data-driven approach to student progress and outcomes
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Comfort with technology, including Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and online learning tools
