Helps students to learn English or gain a high school diploma or equivalent certificate. Description:
Teach English as a Second Language (ESL) to adults including listening, pronunciation/speaking, reading, writing and grammar as a part of student-centered classroom; Align instruction to MN ABE Content Standards (CCRS, ACES/TIF, NorthStar Digital Literacy); Analyze student needs and assess progress with
CASAS/TABE
assessments; Use appropriate techniques for individual learning styles; Coordinate volunteer-student assignments by determining selection of materials, supervising student's progress, and assessing needs and performance; Responsible for record keeping for class and for accurately recording attendance, student progress, etc;. Participate in staff meetings, instructional collaborative time, & professional development; Manage classroom and learning labs to facilitate learning and retention of students; Maintain levels of training criteria established by State Department of Education;
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience teaching adult English language learners with expertise in pre-literacy and low level ESL Strong digital literacy and computer skills. Ability to teach in an on-line platform such as Google Meet. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to supervise and work well with others Ability to assume initiative in problem solving Excellent organizational skills Excellent record keeping skills Ability to manage time and responsibilities Demonstrated history of racial equity work and focus on increasing racial awareness Bachelor Degree in Education and current Minnesota Teaching License Masters in TESOL preferred
Additional Requirements:
Must be able to stand and move about the classroom for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs (books, materials, equipment). Must be able to project voice and communicate clearly to groups of students.
