An Adult Basic Education or Literacy Instructor works with adults, including young adults who are out of school, to improve literacy and strengthen basic skills in reading, writing and math. Helps students to learn English or gain a high school diploma or equivalent certificate. Assesses students' educational levels, skills and goals, and differentiates instruction as needed for adults at different levels in one class. May focus on basic skills as needed for a particular occupation, or assist students with developing study skills or job search skills, or help students connect with social services.

Job Summary:
Assists with the administration of the English as a Second Language (ESL), Alternative Learning Center office and classrooms, and Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes which include students coming to earn their high school equivalency diploma (GED). Working side by side with the Adult Basic Education coordinator to maintain a flow of students, ensure that students are assessed both pre and post testing, and providing daily structure for a successful program that served over 1,200 students in the past year. Assessment will be one phase of this job. Will also include other duties as assigned to maintain efficiency in the programs. Involves proctoring Pearson and Metro Institute exams on a daily basis as well as Casas exams.
Required Qualifications:
1. Ability to organize and be flexible 2. Computer skills and familiarity and comfort with spread sheets
Desired Qualifications:
1. Experience in Adult Basic Education a plus 2. Experience with diverse populations and a second Language 3. Team player not afraid to do the small things as well as the big things 4. People skills with both adults and youth 5. Proficient with Microsoft Office and willing to Learn software such as
