Position Summary:
The job of the Adult Education Director is to develop, coordinate, and supervise the programs and staff within the Adult Education & Literacy Program and related activities. The Director collaborates with internal and external stakeholders and ensures access to adult education options. The director enforces established policies and regulatory requirements, addresses issues, evaluates teachers and staff, and supports students within the Adult Education Program and Middle College Academy. This is a Grant funded position.
What You'll Be Doing:
(Responsibilities) Provide overall oversight and daily supervision of the
KCPS AEL
program and staff Conduct quarterly and annual staff evaluations Support the Middle College Academy program (15% of weekly schedule) Assist with monthly budget monitoring alongside the Executive Director Maintain Personnel Activity Reports (PARs) and timesheets for compliance Recruit, screen, interview, and hire AEL staff Monitor classroom instruction to ensure quality and DESE compliance Oversee student enrollment, testing, and program data (LACES), including reporting and data accuracy Review data to inform programming decisions and achieve MSG goals (62.5%) Coordinate and track professional development, staff certification, and continuous growth Assign mentors to new staff and monitor certification progress Collaborate with the AEL administrative team to develop and revise curriculum aligned to CCR standards Provide data and reporting to partners as needed Assist in securing additional funding sources Promote and market AEL programs to increase community presence and enrollment Ensure use of research-based, culturally responsive practices aligned with adult learning principles Develop and update the AEL Program Handbook annually Create and manage the annual program calendar Attend required DESE director trainings and obtain necessary assessment certifications (TABE 13/14, CASAS) Work evenings as required Perform other duties as assigned

Adult Education Physical Demands:
This job requires that the employee be able to: sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands, fingers, and reach with hands and fingers; bend, stoop, and lift objects of at least ten pounds. The job requires the employee occasionally to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Visual ability requires mono and color vision, close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
