Job Description

Adult Education/Smart Start Instructor Location:
Lowery A. Woodall Center, Hattiesburg
Status:
Full-Time | 12 month |
Grant Funded Position Overview:
The Adult Education Instructor at the Lowery A. Woodall Center is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to adult learners seeking to improve their basic academic skills and/or prepare for the High School Equivalency (HSE) exam. This role includes both in-person and supplemental computer-based instruction. Minimum Education and Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; degree in Education, Adult Education, or a related field preferred. Valid K-12 teaching certification preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and implement effective lesson plans tailored to adult learners Deliver engaging instruction aligned with College and Career Readiness (CCR) standards Provide supplemental distance learning opportunities using approved computer-based platforms Support student recruitment and retention efforts Coordinate HSE test scheduling and goal-setting with students Participate in required annual professional development Review student progress periodically; adjust instructional placement as needed
