ABLE Instructor - Adult Basic Education and High School Equivalency Instructors Salary Depends on Qualifications Location Dillingham Center, 1304 Plaza Dr., Burlington, NC Job Type Part-Time Job Number 2024-00061 Division Workforce Development Department Academic & Career Readiness Opening Date 04/15/2024 Description ABLE (Adult Basic Literacy Education) is an academic program for students with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities (IDD) located at the Dillingham Campus of Alamance Community College. Under the direction of the ABE/HSE Coordinator, an ABLE instructor will teach two sections of classes Monday through Thursday from 8:30-11:30 am and/or 12:00-3:00pm. The instructor will be responsible for creating a welcoming environment for diverse learners, implementing differentiated lesson plans, communicating with caregivers as needed, and submitting all necessary paperwork. Example of Duties Implement differentiated lesson plans for students with disabilities Teach digital literacy skills Discuss career opportunities for students Manage classroom to facilitate an inclusive environment Participate in department-wide professional development Submit paperwork on time Other duties as assigned Typical Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution Ability to work with a diverse population of adults, specifically those with IDD Excellent lesson planning and organizational skills Experience using Google Suites and other necessary software
Preferred Qualifications:
