The Faculty Academic Lead in collaboration with the Dean provides the vision and leadership required to realize the mission of the assigned department and the college at large. Primary administrative responsibilities include recruitment, hiring and mentoring of part time faculty, budget development/management, facilitating core instructional processes, supporting departmental students, and providing operational supervision and support to full and part time faculty and staff in the department. Instructional responsibilities require a strong professional skill set and the ability to teach students effectively in an instructional environment. The Faculty Academic Lead is a member of the full-time faculty and maintains a teaching load with release time to carry out administrative duties. The Faculty Academic Lead of Transitions provides strategic instructional leadership for the design, implementation, and scaling of a comprehensive "on-ramp" system that supports adult learners' progression from foundational literacy to post-secondary education and career success. This role serves as the primary architect of the program's High School Equivalency ( HSE ), Integrated Education and Training ( IET ), Integrated English Literacy and Civics Education ( IELCE ) portfolio, ensuring alignment with Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act ( WIOA ) Sections 231 and 243 and NCCCS College and Career Readiness ( CCR ) Content Standards. Specialized Certification:
Completion of the NCCCS Adult Education Certification, TESOL, or K-12 Certification Education Preferred Master's degree in Education, English, Linguistics, ESL / TESOL, or related field from an institutionally accredited post-secondary College or University. Experience Required Three years teaching ESL or ABE in a Title II Adult Education Family Literacy Act ( AEFLA ) Program. Three years experience with Title II WIOA Uniform Guidance and the National Reporting System Experience with direct employee supervision and management, including evaluation Proficiency in curriculum design, pedagogy, program administration, evaluation, instruction, Student Learning Outcomes (SLO's), and academic advising in an ESL environment. Experience Preferred Greater than 3 years of Teaching ESL in a Title II Adult Education Family Literacy Act ( AEFLA ) Program. Greater than three years experience with Title II WIOA Uniform Guidance and National Reporting System. Experience with distance learning and/or alternative instructional delivery systems.
