An Adult Basic Education or Literacy Instructor works with adults, including young adults who are out of school, to improve literacy and strengthen basic skills in reading, writing and math. Helps students to learn English or gain a high school diploma or equivalent certificate. Assesses students' educational levels, skills and goals, and differentiates instruction as needed for adults at different levels in one class. May focus on basic skills as needed for a particular occupation, or assist students with developing study skills or job search skills, or help students connect with social services.

Rank Adjunct Job Description 1. Be able to evaluate past student education and placement test results to determine needs for high school equivalency completion. Ability to instruct individuals at different skill levels within the same classroom. Implement curriculum that will adequately cover required material for course completion or subject understanding. 2. Embrace and use technology as available to enhance student learning. Provide structured stand-up lectures and individual instruction based on NCCCS Content Standards and requirements as assigned in ABE/ASE transition classes. Follow classroom and administrative requirements for monitoring and testing. Maintain preparedness for daily classroom instruction (i.e. materials needed, instructional plans, etc.) Register students for classes each semester. 3. Maintain and submit accurate and required Student Attendance forms, Daily sign-in forms, and any other required or requested reports on or before due dates. Contact students who are absent from class to acknowledge their absence and encourage their return. Maintain positive relationships with the students and their families/advocates/guardians. Communicates effectively with the administration team through emails and phone calls by responding promptly. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution. Comfort with using technology in the classroom. Preferred Qualifications Previous teaching experience in Education, Adult Education, or a closely related field.
