JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Adult Education Instructor provides high-quality instruction to adult learners. This role involves teaching foundational skills, such as reading, writing, math, and English language acquisition. Additionally, the role supports learners in preparing for high school equivalency exams (GED), postsecondary education, or entry into the workforce. The ideal candidate is student-focused, culturally responsive, and committed to students' personal and professional growth.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
Plan and deliver engaging, student-centered lessons in adult basic education, GED, and English for speakers of other languages. Design instruction that supports diverse learning styles, language proficiencies, and academic needs. Integrate workforce preparation, digital literacy, and college readiness skills into classroom instruction. Utilize instructional technology and digital resources to enhance learning outcomes. Foster a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive classroom environment. Monitor and maintain accurate records of student attendance in accordance with program requirements. Collaborate with program staff, Student Services, and community partners to support student achievement and transitions. Participate in professional development, curriculum development, and weekly instructor touchpoints.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of effective instructional strategies for adult learners. Computer skills including proficient use of the internet, email, and word processing software Skills in demonstrating a cooperative professional demeanor Ability to exhibit professionalism and understanding in stressful situations. Ability to work well independently. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks. Ability to effectively work and interact with various cultures and ethnicities. Ability to constantly motivate and encourage students.
