  • Adult Education Citizenship Instructor provides Spanish instruction of materials to prepare students for the U.
S. Naturalization exam. Through weekly sessions, the Adult Education Citizenship Instructor prepares lessons, implements curriculum-based classes that support participant's learning and engagement. The Citizenship instructor supports the WEI Supervisor with student, enrollment, data entry, event logistics, and participant engagement (retention). The ideal candidate is highly organized and dependable, community-oriented, and excited to make a difference by implementing WEI's purpose of strengthening Omaha's bilingual and Latino workforce through educational initiatives and on the job training. The ideal candidate should possess the following characteristics : Enjoys supporting adult learners in achieving their educational and career goals. Think outside the box to overcome barriers faced by the individuals we serve. Detail-oriented, highly organized, and dependable (able to follow through on tasks and deadlines). Collaborative and enjoys facilitating and teaching diverse groups of people. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, community-based environment. Demonstrates good judgment, strong decision-making skills and is highly resourceful. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum Development Develops course syllabi, lesson plans, and instructional activities to ensure effective implementation of U.S. Civic knowledge and U.S. Naturalization Exam curriculum. Establishes and communicates clear learning objectives for all instructional activities. Implements course(s) using effective and engaging instructional techniques that promote student success. Assesses student progress using specific, measurable learning objectives and timeframes. Uses instructional experience to support program effectiveness and continuous improvement. Class Preparation & Administration Prepares and organizes class materials, workshops, or seminars; manages related paperwork.. Develops and maintains updated class rosters; tracks attendance, grades, pre/post data as required. Maintains accurate records of payments, donations, and other class-related documentation. Responds promptly and professionally to student and client inquiries via email, phone, or in person. Program Support & Data Management Supports data collection, input, and transcription for program evaluations, forms, and surveys. Assists in program planning, student enrollment, and summer program development activities. Helps coordinate ceremonies, events, and activities celebrating student successes. Assists with special projects and other duties as assigned. Team & Community Engagement Attends required team meetings and actively participates in team development opportunities. Helps build positive relationships within the team and among program participants. Represents LCM Adult Education and its programming within the community, at outreach events, and with stakeholders. Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Adult learning, or related field or one to two years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience teaching adults, preferably in civics. Ability to work with culturally diverse learners. Proficient with digital tools and basic classroom technology. Bilingual (Spanish/English) proficiency.
Preferred:
Experience with hybrid or online instruction. Knowledge of workforce development or career readiness programming. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations No certificates, licenses, registrations required.
Role Details Hours:
Part-time, generally six hours per week depending on course load. With an Adult Education class schedule of Monday through Thursday mornings and evenings and Saturday morning. This class schedule is based on the availability of instructor and adult student learners. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations No certificates, licenses, registrations required.
