Adult Life Skills-Life Management Objective:

Provides foundational instruction for adult learners designed to provide a framework for Saranam parents to establish priorities and goals for the next two years, as well as strategies to succeed in achieving those ends. Topics include time management, organizational skills, study skills, test taking strategies, note taking techniques, goal setting, financial planning, and household management. This class aims to prepare students for more college and future vocational success by establishing a sustainable work-life balance and cultivating useful habits to ensure short and long term stability in the home.

Status:

This is a contract position beginning in September 2025 through December 2025, with the possibility of further assignments on a per semester basis. Saranam observes the APS holiday schedule.

Essential Functions :

1. Facilitate Saranam lesson plans in coordination with Education Coordinator, other Saranam instructors, and guest speakers, Mondays from 1-4pm. 2. Maintain safe and secure learning environment that supports learning and relationship building. 3. Assess individual student progress in coordination with the Education Coordinator. 4. Communicate effectively with Saranam clients and staff. 5. Participate in instructor meetings. 6. Manage classroom behavior according to Saranam guidelines and rubric. 7. Promote development and effective application of critical thinking, communication, self-reflection, problem-solving, and decision-making.

Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution. Experience with different teaching/tutoring strategies, including lecture, discussion, collaborative learning, differentiated instruction, and technology-supported instruction. Experience leading/facilitating discussions and/or teaching classes. A strong understanding of time management, goal setting, and financial planning. Experience working with a nontraditional and diverse population. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to maintain professional boundaries. Ability to use MS Office, familiarity with Windows. Experience with Google Classroom preferred.
