Job Summary:
Lane Community College's Adult Basic & Secondary Education Department is seeking to expand its pool of part-time faculty to teach Basic Skills Development, GED Preparation, and/or College Preparation. This is an application pool posting for 2026-2027, starting in Spring 2026.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in Education, Teaching, Adult Education, TESOL/TEFL, or Special Education, or related field AND either of the following: Required Education
  • A minimum of 24 undergraduate or graduate credit hours in mathematics.
  • A teaching license with an endorsement in an area relevant to mathematics instruction.
AND Required Experience One (1) year experience teaching basic math or life skills math, OR two (2) years secondary, special education, or adult education experience teaching developmental level math.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Instruction in pre-GED, GED, and developmental college mathematics subject areas
  • Courses assigned may be taught in a variety of delivery modalities
  • Plan lessons and implement curriculum appropriate to the needs of adult learners and according to Oregon Adult College and Career Readiness Standards (OACCRS)
  • Co-develop curriculum and align instruction with the criteria and skill levels established by the department, the federal government, the state of Oregon, the CASAS assessment system, GED content areas, bridge courses to post-secondary education, including Career Pathways
  • Implement a variety of delivery methods
  • Adapt options and strategies for managing learning objectives
  • Provide intake, orientation, placement and progress assessment for students
  • Complete and maintain appropriate student registration, attendance, and assessment records, and ensure the timely submission of reports
  • Help students access support services, college and employment resources
  • Continually evaluate and assess student achievement
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Apply adult learning theories, special education, and teaching methods such as assessment to instruction, direct instruction, cooperative learning, multi-sensory instruction, and integration of prior learning into current coursework
  • Plan instruction using Oregon Adult College and Career Readiness Standards
  • Adapt to and plan for open-entry/open exit instruction
  • Effectively integrate technology into a variety of learning environments
