Job Description

Serve as a facilitator to provide quality care in the development and instruction of adults in our Older Adult Daily Living Center or Adult Training Facility. Responsible for the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of each consumer in the classroom in accordance with the approved curriculum.
SUPERVISORIAL DUTIES
In the absence of the Center Director, Curriculum Coordinator, or Lead Facilitator, this position may be responsible for limited-time supervision and coordination as needed, class instruction, and working with Facilitator Assistants to ensure appropriate activities.
EDUCATION
One year of related experience with a bachelor's degree is preferred. Two years of related experience with an A.A. degree accepted. Five years or more of experience can be substituted for a bachelor's degree. Should include a combination of the following:

Education:
12 units of Hospitality Management, Recreational Therapy, or Gerontology are acceptable. A bachelor's degree in social work (BSW) or Human Services is preferred. Bachelor's degree in Gerontology or related fields (such as psychology, nursing, or sociology. Knowledge of the aging process and its social, psychological, and biological aspects.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the completion and maintenance of consumer files. Responsible for participating in Individual Service Plan (ISP) or Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings. Adheres to the American with Disabilities Act (ADA 1992), which prohibits discriminatory actions toward people with disabilities. Responsible for creating and ensuring that the physical environment is clean, safe, and inviting; is stimulating and conducive to learning. Attend meetings and training courses as required. Responsible for the smooth transition of the consumer from our center. Follow procedures as a mandated reporter to report suspected abuse/neglect. Aid the other center staff and/or parents in classroom record-keeping and planning. Facilitates and aids in conducting one-on-one assistance with each adult. Maintain a safe and functional work environment. Responsible for ensuring the completion and implementation of developmentally appropriate lesson plans, which provide opportunities for our consumers to participate in a variety of activities. Teacher-initiated activities. Perform any other duties as assigned. Report to the center director daily.
Responsibilities include:
1. Provide supervision during Learning Center programming. Create a clean, safe, inviting, and stimulating physical environment conducive to learning. 2. Develop, organize, and implement innovative programs that provide opportunities for consumers to participate in a variety of fun-filled activities. 3. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with consumers, parents, and staff. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 4. Aid consumers, parents, and staff. Perform any other duties as assigned. 5. Adhere to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA 1992), which prohibits discriminatory actions toward those with disabilities. 6. Maintain educational records. Follow procedures as a mandated reporter to report suspected abuse or neglect. 7. Meet the physical requirements of working with consumers both indoors and outdoors. 8. Attend meetings and trainings as required by the Center Director and/or Curriculum Coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working in State or Federally funded Adult Day Care, Adult Training Facilities, and Older Adult Daily Living Center Programs are desirable.
Must have the ability to:
Recognize and respond with techniques for managing adults who exhibit challenging behaviors. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with adult consumers, parents, guardians, and staff. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Meet the physical requirements of working with Adults such as the ability to participate indoors as well as outdoors. Ability to plan and organize.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Meet the physical requirements for working with Adults and older adults, with and without disabilities.
Requirements:
Must have completed a first aid and CPR certificate or will obtain the certification within 90 days of employment. Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License, State automobile insurance, and a DMV printout. Must be fingerprinted and have such records filed with authorized state authorities. Completion of physical and substance abuse screening upon offer of employment. Successful completion of TB screening upon employment and annually thereafter.
Pay:
$17.00 - $25.00 per hour
