An Adult Basic Education or Literacy Instructor works with adults, including young adults who are out of school, to improve literacy and strengthen basic skills in reading, writing and math. Helps students to learn English or gain a high school diploma or equivalent certificate. Assesses students' educational levels, skills and goals, and differentiates instruction as needed for adults at different levels in one class. May focus on basic skills as needed for a particular occupation, or assist students with developing study skills or job search skills, or help students connect with social services.

Job Duties Job Duty Use variety of teaching styles, methods and materials to accommodate diverse learning styles of students to achieve their educational goals and course outcomes. Job Duty Develop and deliver lesson plans and syllabi for in-person learning and virtual instruction that utilizes a broad range of appropriate teaching techniques and strategies. Job Duty Provide a caring and supportive learning environment that encourages adult learners' responsibility, and incorporates appropriate instructional strategies. Job Duty Adapts curriculum to provide individual, small group, and/or remedial level instruction as to meet the the needs of individual adult learners and subgroups of adult learners.
