Job Description:
The AdultEd GED Instructor provides high-quality instruction to adult learners preparing for the GED® test. The instructor creates a supportive, learner-centered environment that promotes academic achievement, persistence, and successful transition to post-secondary education, workforce training, and employment opportunities. Instruction includes reading, language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies, aligned with the GED College and Career Readiness Standards.

Adult Education Program Hours:
Monday-Friday, 8:00-12:30 pm
Hourly Rate:
$30.75 - $35.75 per hour based on teaching experience and other factors
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
Experience teaching adults, secondary students, or diverse learners.
Knowledge of GED content areas and adult learning principles.
Strong classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with instructional technology and online learning platforms.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Instruction and Learning
Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based GED instruction in face-to-face
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, cultural, and learning needs of adult learners.
Integrate evidence-based instructional practices, including adult learning principles, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and digital literacy skills.
Utilize formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
Prepare students for success on GED Ready® practice tests and official GED examinations.
Incorporate workforce readiness, critical thinking, problem-solving, and employability skills into instruction.
Student Support
Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment that encourages student engagement and persistence.
Assist students in setting educational and career goals through individualized learning plans.
Collaborate with advisors, transition specialists, counselors, and community partners to address barriers to student success.
Support student attendance, retention, and completion efforts.
Assessment and Data Management
Administer and interpret approved adult education assessments.
Maintain accurate attendance, assessment, and student performance records.
Monitor student measurable skill gains and progress toward educational goals.
Enter and maintain required student data in program management systems in a timely manner.
Program Participation
Participate in staff meetings, professional development activities, and program improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum, share best practices, and strengthen instructional quality.
Support recruitment, orientation, and student recognition events as needed.
Adhere to all federal, state, local, and program policies and procedures.
Compensation:
$30.75 - $35.75 per hour based on teaching experience and other factors
Clearances:
Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
Tuberculosis Skin Test. Public Health Compliance - Must follow safety and health protocols.
