06/03/2026 POSITION SUMMARY Coordinator for a local AEFLA (Adult Education) funded program within Region 11. The position is responsible for duties related to planning, implementing, and monitoring the instructional program for adult learners needing ABE/GED classes to improve essential reading, writing, and math skills and to prepare for the GED credential, post-secondary education/training or the workforce as well as those adult learners needing to improve speaking/listening/reading/writing skills for English language learners.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The position is responsible for training and monitoring adult education instructors who develop and implement the curriculum. The position is also responsible for assessment, goal-setting, post-testing, and data collection for the program as reported to the region. The position is the sole staff responsible for the maintenance of the office, data, materials, reports, correspondence, local workshops, and budget, and day and evening class and assessment schedules.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Must possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education or adult learners is required. Administrative experience is a plus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Plans, implements, and monitors instructional activities for adult learners preparing for a GED credential, college and career readiness, success skills, and improving basic skills. Develops a curriculum using the College and Career Standards for Adults Monitors and manages local program budget and goals Develops and executes outreach, recruitment, intake, and retention plans for adult learners and trains and monitors assessors and instructors in curriculum and assessment. Coordinates with Regional Adult Education Program Manager, Instructional and Data Specialist, Region 2000 Workforce staff and community partners and employers to provide learners with transition services. Maintains appropriate records and data for all programs within the domain of the VA OAEL grants. Attends regional leadership meetings. Completes state OCTAE certifications as required Performs related work as assigned
