General Summary of Position:
The Luso-American Development Foundation (FLAD) in Lisbon, Portugal, and the Saab Center for Portuguese Studies in the University of Massachusetts Lowell College of Fine Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences announce the FLAD/Saab Visiting Professorship in Portuguese Studies for Spring Semester 2027. This program sponsors a one-semester, open-rank, Visiting Professor of Portuguese Studies at UMass Lowell. The program is open to Portuguese Academics presently teaching at a university in Portugal or abroad. The program contributes a Portuguese academic perspective to the curriculum of the College of Fine Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences and, more specifically, supports the Portuguese Studies Program at UMass Lowell and the mission of the Saab Center for Portuguese Studies. The program further enhances the University's relationship with the regional Portuguese American community. For Spring Semester 2027, we seek a Visiting professor in the academic areas of Criminology, Film Studies, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Portuguese American Studies, or Sociology/Anthropology. The Visiting Professor will teach up to two courses in English and deliver one or more public lectures in their area of expertise. The program provides a competitive one-semester salary stipend. This is a part-time, temporary, non-unit, non-benefited position. Anticipated salary of $46,000-$52,000, depending on qualifications and the # of classes taught.
