Job Description

About the role The University of Technology Sydney is seeking a Lecturer in Landscape Architecture (Level B) to join the team on a continuing basis. This will be a balanced appointment. Working in close collaboration with a dynamic and diverse faculty, the successful candidate will contribute to a new phase of strategic program development. In the context of reimagined school and faculty structures, the program aims to incorporate new foci, alignments and collaborations. Since its formation in 2015, landscape architecture at UTS has established a reputation among professionals and academics as a rigorous and critical program of study and inquiry. The quality of our teaching and research has been recognised nationally and internationally, and graduates are highly sought across the sector. Future directions will build on this foundation in the interests of catalysing practices that are just, socially and environmentally responsible, and materially impactful. Candidates are sought that that can contribute to one or more of the following domains:
  • Urban ecology
  • Materials and advanced fabrication/construction
  • Critical technologies
  • Community-led design
  • Critical and contemporary practice About you We are seeking candidates who have;
  • Experience in academic and professional contexts.
  • A critical and transformative vision for landscape architecture, grounded in a research practice that is design orientated and/or led.
  • An established or developing expertise in one or more of the identified knowledge domains.
  • Knowledge of contemporary theory and practice drawn from an expanded field of relevance to the future of landscape architecture.
  • The skill to devise and deliver curricula across several subject areas and modes: including studio teaching and seminar-based subjects.
  • The desire to contribute to a shared educational project centred on the development of landscape curriculum as a catalyst for professional and societal change.
  • An interest in providing future leadership at a program/school levels.
Applicants should hold a terminal degree or equivalent experience in landscape architecture. Preference will be given to applicants close to finishing or holding a Ph.D. of relevance to landscape architecture. Why join UTS? Remuneration and Benefits Base Salary Range:
$127,119 to $150,453pa (Level B) This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary. This position is full-time and an appointment will be made on a continuing basis.
