Job Description

Buono Endowed Professor of Real Estate The College of Charleston's School of Business invites applications and nominations for the inaugural Buono Endowed Professor of Real Estate. This is a distinctive opportunity for an accomplished scholar and industry-engaged leader to shape real estate education in a city renowned for its dynamic commercial real estate market and historic appeal. The Buono Endowed Professor will provide academic leadership for the Commercial Real Estate Finance program and may serve as Director of the Carter Real Estate Center. This position offers an exceptional platform for advancing innovative teaching, research, and impactful partnerships within the College and industry. With a beautiful campus, contemporary facilities, and more than 11,000 students from across the U.S. and around the world, the College of Charleston offers a distinctive environment that blends tradition with forward-thinking education and fosters meaningful connections with the historic city it calls home Key Responsibilities The Buono Endowed Professor will provide academic leadership for the Commercial Real Estate Finance program and may serve as Director of the Carter Real Estate Center. This position offers an exceptional platform for advancing innovative teaching, research, and impactful partnerships within the College and industry. Guide the enhancement and delivery of real estate curriculum, with a focus on experiential learning and career outcomes Mentor students and support their placement into rewarding real estate careers Foster collaborations with industry partners and the community Lead and expand the Carter Real Estate Center's educational and research initiatives Qualifications and Experience The successful candidate will join a dynamic Department of Finance that is deeply committed to student success and experiential learning and should have the following qualifications. Doctorate in Real Estate, Finance, or a closely related field from an accredited institution Significant professional experience in commercial real estate preferred Demonstrated excellence in teaching and a strong record of scholarly research, including publication in respected journals Commitment to student development and mentoring junior faculty Preferred qualifications include: Extensive professional experience in commercial real estate Demonstrated excellence in teaching with the ability to teach courses such as Real Estate Finance and Investment A strong record of scholarly research with the ability to mentor and engage junior faculty in research activities Evidence of publication in reputable real estate and/or finance journals, and Prior service experience at the department, college, university, and/or professional community level Application and Nomination Process Greenwood Asher & Associates is assisting the College of Charleston in this search.
