Job Description
The Department of Biology at Brigham Young University invites applications for a continuing faculty status (CFS) position in Field andQuantitative Ecology. We seek a candidate whose teaching and research programs will strengthen our core areas in ecology, evolution, andorganismal biology. Primary teaching responsibilities will include courses such as BIO 350 (Ecology), BIO 220 (Animal Diversity), BIO120 (Field Biology), and related undergraduate and graduate offerings. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute tofield-based and experiential learning opportunities and to support courses that serve students across multiple emphases, including Ecology &Evolution, Wildlife & Wildlands Conservation, and Environmental Science & Sustainability. The successful candidate will establish andmaintain an externally visible research program that involves undergraduate and graduate students in meaningful, mentored researchexperiences. Research areas may include, but are not limited to, field ecology, quantitative ecology, organismal ecology, or appliedecological systems. Candidates whose work integrates field-based approaches with quantitative or analytical methods are particularlyencouraged to apply. Faculty are expected to contribute to the academic life of the department through teaching, research, andservice. This includes mentoring students, participating in departmental and university service, and supporting the mission of Brigham YoungUniversity.
Required Degree:
PhD in Ecology, Evolutionary Biology, or a closely related field. The required degree mustbe completed by the start date.Experience:
Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses inecology, organismal biology, and/or field biology. Evidence of an active research program in ecology or a related discipline that engagesundergraduate and graduate students.
