Overview Join our dynamic team as an Auction Cataloger, where your expertise will bring order and clarity to our diverse collections. In this role, you will be responsible for meticulously cataloging auction items, ensuring accurate metadata, and maintaining comprehensive records within our integrated library system. Your keen organizational skills and attention to detail will support seamless auction processes, enhance customer experience, and uphold the integrity of our collections. This paid position offers a vibrant environment for those passionate about research, management, and the art of cataloging. Responsibilities Develop detailed descriptions and metadata for auction items to facilitate accurate identification and retrieval Utilize databases and integrated library systems to input, update, and manage catalog records efficiently Conduct research on items to verify provenance, significance, and classification details Collaborate with curators and management to organize collections and prepare items for upcoming auctions Maintain meticulous records of cataloging activities, updates, and item statuses Assist in creating grant proposals or funding applications related to collection development or digitization projects Provide excellent customer service by responding to inquiries about cataloged items and auction details Qualifications Proven experience with databases, metadata standards, and integrated library systems in a cataloging or research setting Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Excellent writing skills for creating clear, detailed descriptions and reports Demonstrated leadership or management experience in a library, museum, or auction environment Knowledge of cataloging standards and best practices in collection management Ability to conduct thorough research and verify item information accurately Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders Join us in shaping a well-organized collection that captivates bidders and preserves cultural heritage!
