Position Description Advertised Job Summary Under the limited supervision of the Director of Moving Image Research Collections (MIRC), the Archival Processing and Access Manager is responsible for the description, organization, and online accessibility of MIRC's holdings, as well as the physical and intellectual processing of video and film-related collections. Ensures that materials are arranged, cataloged, and made discoverable for research and public access, both on-site and online. Arranges, processes, and catalogs collections; works collaboratively to support digitization activities; assists researchers and patrons in accessing materials; and supports the retrieval and re-shelving of items as needed. Coordinates the work of students, volunteers, and interns. Contributes to departmental planning, workflow development, and initiatives that promote the visibility and usability of MIRC collections. Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience Requires a bachelor's degree in a job related field and 2 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience. Knowledge of best practices in collection processing, description, metadata, and access for moving image materials and related archival materials. Ability to exercise decision-making authority. Job Duties Job Duty Arrange and process video and film-related collections. Catalog MIRC collections in accordance with archival and metadata standards. Create, review, and maintain descriptive metadata to enhance discoverability of MIRC collections. Support digitization activities. Participate in collection assessment and workflow development for incoming or backlog materials. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 40 Job Duty Create and manage metadata and ingest files for digital access platforms (e.g. CONTENTdm) and other discovery tools. Provide assistance to on-site and remote patrons, including research assistance to Production clients. Collaborate with colleagues to improve online access and public visibility of MIRC collections.
