Job Summary Encore Music Education is hiring faculty for the 2026-2027 school year to teach elementary-age students piano, guitar, and violin through the Encore Method — our approach to instrumental education, built around small-group, ensemble-based learning and character development (bravery, patience, discipline, confidence), delivered through different music styles. Classes are small groups (2-4 students), with some individual lessons, taught on-site at partner schools across Los Angeles. Students range from those just starting out to those with a couple years of prior instruction, so comfort teaching across skill levels is a plus. We're looking for educators who want to teach young students (ages 4+) with energy, patience, and an open mind. This role requires teaching all three instruments — piano (our primary instrument), guitar, and violin. Most candidates are strongest in one or two and build proficiency in the remaining instrument(s) through our training and curriculum support — ideally, you're already comfortable in at least two, with room to grow in just one. Curriculum resources and training are provided to get you up to speed — we draw on established methods like Faber, Alfred, and Suzuki alongside Encore's own custom curriculum. The Position Commitment through one academic year (mid-Aug-mid-June) Availability needed Wednesdays (9-3pm) and Tuesday afternoons/after school (3-5:30pm), plus a couple hours for remote office hours $45/hr teaching, $22.50/hr administrative. Part-time, 8-10 hrs/week with room to grow PTO, holidays, sick days, and bonuses available for eligible employees Must reside in and be authorized to work in the US; background check required Responsibilities Teach small groups (2-4 students) at one or more partner schools, plus some individual lessons Lesson planning, plus curriculum training and professional development to help you hit teaching goals and quality benchmarks — mentorship provided Additional paid time for administrative tasks: student records/progress updates/attendance, parent communication, and scheduling — with program management and admin support from our office team Instrument management, including setup and break-down for classes Support enrollment at partner school events, especially during Aug/Sept registration Qualifications 1-2+ years teaching experience (music or classroom), via school, private studio, after-school program, or with an organization — early-to-mid career musicians looking to grow with a structured program are a great fit Music degree required Able to commit to a consistent weekly schedule for the full academic year — this is a steady part-time role, not a substitute-based or drop-in position Willing to teach all three instruments (piano, guitar, violin) — ideally with existing proficiency in at least two, and openness to building skill in the third with our training support Genuine interest in working with young students, especially ages 4-8 Comfortable in small-group teaching (3-4 students) Flexible and creative in teaching style, adapting to each student's pace and interests Reliable, organized, and comfortable with daily email, messaging tools, and digital timekeeping Owns a car for commuting between partner schools Confident working independently and representing Encore on-site Experience with leadership or project management a plus Join us to inspire the next generation of artists by delivering energetic, detailed instruction that celebrates creativity across multiple disciplines!
