No Job Summary The Music Area of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Angelo State University seeks to fill the position of Adjunct Double Reed Instructor for the 2024-25 academic year. This position calls for an individual with a commitment to undergraduate Music Education who will teach applied double reeds (bassoon and oboe). Essential Duties Teach applied lessons in oboe and bassoon, a weekly studio class, reed making, and chamber ensembles as assigned. In the Spring semester the teaching load includes the double reed section of a Woodwind Methods class. Additional courses may be assigned based upon experience and the needs of the music area. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Qualified candidates must possess strong communication and organizational skills, exhibit skill in musicianship, rehearsal techniques, and effectiveness as a teacher of university level music students, successfully recruit and retain students, work collaboratively and collegially within a university environment, and meet the needs of a diverse student body. Minimum Qualifications Masters Degree in Music with focus in Oboe or Bassoon. Proven record of teaching both oboe and bassoon students. Experience teaching reed making for both oboe and bassoon. Experience in teaching Woodwind Methods. Preferred Qualifications Doctorate or ABD (with doctorate conferred at time of appointment) in music, with focus in Oboe or Bassoon. Experience in teaching Woodwind Methods. Experience teaching reed making for both oboe and bassoon.
