Job Summary Eastside Christian Schools is a K-12 school that aims to maintain high academic standards while helping students achieve skills in creative and critical thinking, but also to nurture their spiritual, mental, intellectual, physical, social, and emotional well-being. The mission of ECS is to develop well-rounded, caring community leaders with academic integrity, in a nurturing, Christian environment.
Art:
Art includes both self-expression of students as well as specific projects directed by the teacher. The beauty of God's world can easily be seen and students can portray the beauty in pictures and in projects.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • CA Teaching Credential required, CLAD certified preferred. Previous teaching experience preferred.
  • If you are currently completing your credential, we will accept a verification letter on your school's letterhead certifying your completion date.
Strong candidates will have:
  • an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ
  • a love of students and learning
  • at least 2 years of professional experience working with K-12 grade levels
  • completed their BA or BS at an accredited college or university
  • CA Credential (in process OK)
  • experience with Biblical integration
  • ability to create and implement lessons based on California Standards
  • a teachable heart
  • high regard for diversity in the student population
  • strong communication skills
  • grace and respect for parents and families
  • creative ideas for individualizing student growth tracks
Responsibilities:
  • Expected to be on campus, fulfilling responsibilities on all regular school days and inservice days.
  • All classroom instruction must be in accord with the curriculum or as instructed by the administrator. Modifications to the established course of study must have prior approval from the administrator.
  • Teach all classes as established by the administrator.
  • Prepare and distribute all books and supplies.
  • Attend all school functions at your grade level.
  • Prepare and present programs involving your students for school events and the Spring Art Festival. HR | Page 1 of 2
  • Keep rooms neat, clean, and orderly at all times.
  • Participate as requested in curriculum analysis and planning, in preparing and updating curriculum guides.
  • Obtain ACSI certification after 1st full-year of completion as a teacher at ECS if a CA state credential is not attained.
  • Prepare and keep updated materials for substitute teachers for your grade or subjects, including an emergency file to be kept in the school office.
  • Grade all assignments; keep grading current; keep students and parents aware of students' progress.
  • Maintain class records of absences and grades.
  • Always supervise students who are in your charge.
  • Be punctual.
  • Attend chapel, supervising students.
  • Conference with parents upon request.
  • Maintain a positive attitude in all interpersonal relationships.
  • Maintain high standards of professionalism in relation to all responsibilities.
  • Assume strong interest in spiritual growth and development in all of your students.
  • Continually strive for personal, spiritual, and professional growth.
  • LiveScan Clearance, Mandated Reporter Training Certificate, and TB Clearance must be completed and submitted. Mandated Reporter Training must be taken annually and a new certificate must be submitted to Human Resources at the start of every school year.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED/BBP Certification must be completed and submitted before it expires. Please attach the following required documents in order for your application to be considered:
  • Credential Copy (CTC credential with a document number, expiration date, and name must be visible.)
  • Letter of Introduction (Addressed to Jasmin Yoo, Human Resources Manager)
  • Current Resume (with 2-3 professional references)
  • One professional letter of recommendation
