Inner Sunset, San Francisco, CA Do you love art, creativity, and working with children? Messy Art Lab is looking for an energetic, playful, patient, and creative Art Camp Teacher to join our summer camp team. At Messy Art Lab, children are invited to explore, experiment, imagine, and create through process art, sensory play, movement, storytelling, and open-ended experiences. We believe children are capable, creative, and full of ideas. Our teachers create environments where children feel safe, inspired, and excited to learn. Who We're Looking For The ideal candidate genuinely enjoys being around children and can bring positive energy throughout the day. You might be a great fit if you are: Warm, engaging, and naturally enthusiastic with children Able to keep groups of children interested, involved, and excited throughout the day Patient and calm during conflicts, transitions, big feelings, and challenging moments Comfortable working with children who have different personalities, learning styles, sensory needs, and developmental differences A strong problem solver who can think on their feet when plans change Proactive and able to notice what needs to be done without being asked Creative, playful, and willing to be silly when it helps engage children Dependable, organized, and punctual A team player who supports coworkers and contributes to a positive studio culture Excited about process art, sensory exploration, child-led learning, and creative play Preferred Qualifications Experience working with children in camps, classrooms, childcare programs, recreation programs, enrichment programs, or similar settings Experience leading groups of children Understanding of child development and positive behavior support CPR and First Aid Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain certification) Background in art, education, psychology, child development, recreation, or a related field is a plus Teaching experience is appreciated, but we care just as much about attitude, energy, reliability, and your ability to connect with children. What You'll Do Lead groups of children ages 4.5-8 through creative art and sensory experiences Facilitate process-art activities that encourage creativity, exploration, and confidence Support outdoor play, movement activities, games, and camp traditions Help children navigate social interactions, challenges, and transitions Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all campers Prepare, organize, and reset materials and activity stations Assist with camp setup, cleanup, and studio organization Communicate professionally and warmly with families and coworkers Work collaboratively with the Messy Art Lab team to create a magical camp experience Schedule Monday-Friday 8:30 AM-3:30 PM This position primarily supports our summer camp programs. Strong performers may have opportunities to continue working during school-break camps, weekly classes, birthday parties, special events, and other studio programming throughout the year. Compensation $23-$30 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Teachers are also eligible for a potential End-of-Summer Performance Bonus based on: Reliability and attendance Leadership and initiative Teamwork and collaboration Positive camper and family experiences Overall contribution to camp success Physical & Work Environment This is an active position that requires: Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting throughout the day Working both indoors and outdoors Participating in messy art and sensory activities Supervising children in a fast-paced camp environment Maintaining positive energy throughout a full camp day Employment Requirements Employment is contingent upon: Passing a background check Authorization to work in the United States Completion of all required employment paperwork Ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position About Messy Art Lab Messy Art Lab is a process-art studio serving children and families through camps, classes, parties, and creative experiences.
