  • Grade 5 Art Specialist Part-Time Position
  • Lang Ranch Elementary School $18
  • 22/hour; 5-10hrs/week Lang Ranch Elementary is seeking a creative, organized, and enthusiastic Art Specialist to provide engaging visual arts instruction to students in Transitional Kindergarten through 5th grade.
This part-time position is ideal for an individual who is passionate about fostering creativity, exposing students to a variety of artistic styles and techniques, and helping students develop an appreciation for art through hands-on experiences. The Art Specialist will travel to classrooms throughout the school year, providing lessons that introduce students to notable artists, artistic movements, and a variety of media, including watercolor, clay, drawing, painting, mixed media, and other visual arts techniques.
Responsibilities:
? Design and deliver engaging, grade-appropriate art lessons for TK-5 students that encourage creativity, self-expression, and artistic skill development. ? Plan and implement 4-5 art projects per grade level each school year, aligned with learning objectives and developmental needs. ? Introduce students to a variety of artists, art styles, cultures, and artistic techniques. ? Prepare, organize, and maintain art supplies, materials, and project resources. ? Travel between classrooms to provide instruction and support student learning. ? Foster a positive, inclusive, and creative learning environment where all students feel successful. ? Demonstrate strong classroom management strategies to ensure productive and respectful learning experiences. ? Collaborate with classroom teachers to coordinate schedules and support classroom learning when appropriate. ? Assist with the display and celebration of student artwork throughout the school year.
Qualifications:
? Experience teaching art to elementary-aged students. ? Knowledge of a variety of artistic media, techniques, and processes, including watercolor, clay, drawing, painting, and mixed media. ? Strong classroom management and student engagement skills. ? Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage materials across multiple classrooms and grade levels. ? Strong communication and collaboration skills. ? Ability to adapt instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Preferred:
? Background in Art Education, Fine Arts, Elementary Education, or a related field. ? Familiarity with the California Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) Standards. ? Experience planning and organizing school art displays or exhibitions. ? Experience working in an elementary school setting.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school or equivalency.
KNOWLEDGE OF
Fundamental principles, methods and procedures of operating computers and peripheral equipment; Fundamentals in classroom behavior management and support; classroom procedures and appropriate student conduct; Applicable laws, codes, policies and regulations related to assigned activities. Computer hardware systems and software applications utilized by the District.
