JOB TITLE/ASSIGNMENT

Position:

Teacher\nQualifications\nBachelor's Degree from an accredited educational institution.\nCertified by the State of Florida in the appropriate area.\nSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

\nConsistent with district and state curriculum requirements, identify or develop long and\nshort range plans based on student needs.\nPlan and prepare work for students which is meaningful and engaging.\nPlan and prepare lessons and instructional strategies which support the school\nimprovement plan and the district mission.\nPlan and prepare instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are\nactively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.\nIdentify, select, develop, or modify instructional materials to support learning objectives\nand to meet the needs of students with diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds,\nlearning styles, and special needs.\nAssist in preparing for changing curriculum needs and continuous improvement.\nMaintain a positive, organized, and safe learning environment.\nEstablish and use behavior management techniques which are appropriate and effective.\nAssist in enforcement of school rules, administrative regulations, and board policy.\nEstablish and maintain effective and efficient record keeping procedures including\nstudent records subject to the requirements of the Family Rights and Privacy Act.\nManage time effectively.\nManage materials and assigned equipment effectively, including record keeping and other\ninventory requirements.\nInstruct and supervise the work of volunteers and aides when assigned.\nDevelop and use assessment strategies (traditional and alternative) to assist the\ncontinuous development of learners.\nInterpret and use data (including, but not limited to, standardized and other test results)\nfor diagnosis, instructional planning, and program evaluation.\nEstablish an appropriate testing environment and ensure test accuracy.\nDemonstrate knowledge and understanding of curriculum content.\nApply principles of learning and effective teaching in instructional delivery.\nUse a variety of instructional strategies appropriate for teaching students from diverse\nback-grounds with different learning styles and special needs.\nUse appropriate techniques and strategies to enhance the application of critical, creative,\nand evaluative thinking capabilities of students.\nUse appropriate materials, technology, and resources to help meet the learning needs of\nall students.\nProvide appropriate instruction and modifications for students with special needs.\nProvide quality work for students, focused on meaningful, relevant, and engaging\nlearning experiences.\nProvide a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged\nin the learning process.\nProvide instruction on safety procedures and proper handling of materials and equipment.\nRecognize overt indicators of student distress or abuse and take appropriate intervention,\nreferral, or reporting actions.\nCommunicate effectively, orally and in writing, with other professionals, students,\nparents, and community.\nCollaborate with students, parents, school staff, and other appropriate persons to assist in\nmeeting student needs.\nCollaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment.\nAssist others in acquiring knowledge and understanding of a particular area of\nresponsibility.\nEngage in continuing improvement of professional knowledge and skills.\nConduct a personal assessment periodically to determine professional development needs\nwith reference to specific instructional assignments.\nAct in a professional and ethical manner and adhere at all times to the Code of Ethics and\nPrinciples of Professional Conduct.\nFulfill professional responsibilities.\nSupport school improvement initiatives by active participation in school activities,\nservices, and programs.\nEnsure that student growth/achievement is continuous and appropriate for age group,\nsubject area, and/or student program classification.\nPerform other incidental tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.\nPerforms other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the immediate supervisor, the\nSuperintendent, or the board.\n

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light Work:

Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects. Ability to actively perform work in classroom, office, and other business and community settings. Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day (typically involving frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, and lifting). Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting. Exposure to weather conditions. Ability to travel outside the district for a variety of meetings and conferences.

Base\nSalary and Benefits as determined and approved annually by Hendry County School Board.\nIf your position is dependent on grant funding, employment is contingent upon the continuation\nof grant funding. In the event that grant funding is reduced or discontinued, this position may be\naffected, up to and including termination of employment.\n

EVALUATION

\nPerformance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with School Board Policies for evaluation of administrative personnel.
