Full Job Description Description:
Baton Rouge Charter School for students with dyslexia seeks highly creative art educator to implement 1st - 5th grade art curriculum.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will possess: A strong background in visual arts and a passion for helping students express creativity, build confidence, and develop their unique strengths through artistic experiences. An understanding of how art can serve as a pathway for students to engage with history, literature, culture, and interdisciplinary learning. A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively with classroom teachers and school leaders. A strong desire to participate in ongoing professional learning to develop a deep understanding of dyslexia and its impact on learning. An open-minded approach to instruction, including a willingness to utilize innovative, multisensory, and student-centered teaching practices. A growth mindset and willingness to receive, reflect upon, and implement feedback regarding instructional practices. Evidence of strong classroom management, organization, and student engagement skills. A willingness to participate in collaborative planning and cross-curricular instructional opportunities. A commitment to individualized instruction that recognizes and nurtures the strengths, interests, and needs of each student. The ability to create an inclusive classroom environment where all students feel successful and valued. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with students with dyslexia, learning differences, or special education needs. Experience incorporating project-based learning, cultural studies, art history, or interdisciplinary connections into instruction. Louisiana teaching certification in Art Education (or eligibility for certification). Experience using a variety of artistic mediums, including drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and digital art.
