Immediately Job Description Applications are being accepted for Art teachers for the 2025-26 school year. Summary - An employee in this position comes under the direct supervision of the Principal of the School. An instructor in this position will be well versed in all aspects of Art Education. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned by the Principal or Instructional Supervisor.
Primary duties include the following:
Using current curriculum plans a sequential course of study. Write lesson plans which incorporate Common Core Learning Goals and Objectives. Maintain accurate records of student performance using a variety of assessment and recordkeeping tools. Teach planned lessons which are informative, interactive and of high quality. Demonstrate a professional attitude towards students, and fellow staff members. Model appropriate art projects. Confer with students and parents to develop a long term plan for student life success. Confer with students and parents on matters of acceptable behaviors and expectations within the classroom and the art lab. Utilizes resources with efficiency. Participates in additional activities and duties as required by the Principal. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience A minimum education of Bachelor's degree in Art education is required. Minimum of five years successful experience in the field or Art through previous employment or community activities. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Must have or be willing to work towards a Maryland State Department of Education Teaching Certificate with an Art endorsement. Language Skills Individual must be able to express themselves clearly in oral as well as written form to a diverse population. Mathematical Skills Must have basic arithmetic skills; must be able to calculate sales tax and discounts. Reasoning Ability Must be able to solve a variety of problems with limited information. Must be able to change the course of instruction in emergency situations that frequently occur. Computer Skills Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office software. Ability to creatively develop lesson plans is preferred. Other Skills and Abilities Must have thorough knowledge of various forms of art education, art projects and appropriate art tools. Other Qualifications Individual must enjoy making art projects and want to spark interest in the field of art with young children.
