Organization Summary Live Yes Studios, Inc. (LYS) is a corporation run by artists, for artists, for the benefit of all. Monday through Friday LYS supports disabled artists through creative expression, representation and community partnerships. LYS offers a professional studio environment for artists to create an alternative to the traditional day program, and it is the first and only program of its kind in Nebraska. LYS hires local artists to teach classes specializing in Fine and Performing Arts, and instructors aid in the pursuit of each artist's creative desires, passions, ideas and interests. Overview Art Instructors at LYS support disabled artists through creative expression, representation and community partnerships by assisting artists with their creative endeavors and teaching new creative skills through classes and hands on instruction. We are looking for talented, hardworking and reliable artists who can confidentially share their creative passion with a diverse range of artists and contribute to a larger creative community. Position Information What is an Art Instructor at Live Yes Studios? An Art Instructor (AI) at the studio at its core is a Direct Support Professional (DSP) with additional duties within each employee's respected arts expertise. AIs/DSPs at the studio work with artists with disabilities and assist them with their creative practice. Responsibilities as an Art Instructor Within Respected Art Department Create and develop curriculums and lesson plans aimed at the education and enrichment of LYS artists. Teach at least one class a week and provide hands on demonstrations instruction to cover different skills. Assist artists in their personal projects, skill building, material knowledge, critiques, etc. Maintain and follow the best safety practices with equipment and tools. Maintain a safe, accessible and functional space for artists to create artworks. Manage classroom materials, equipment and studio facilities. Ensures their respected studio is clean and organized to a high standard. Identify the different skill levels, adapt and accommodate lessons and materials. Build effective relationships with artists to support their learning experience. Ensure students follow rules and regulations as outlined by the studio including cleaning after each class. Help artists find exhibition and commission opportunities within the community. Responsibilities Within Direct Support Professional Help with daily activities like chores, medications, lunch and hygienic care. Hygienic care may require lifting for 50 lbs or more. Help artists access resources and opportunities to advocate for their rights and services. Provide consistent emotional support to artists through challenges of daily life and art making. Ensure the health and safety of artists at the studio and in the community. Assist or administer medication, as needed. Follows all medical protocols, as applicable. Complete daily documentation required by DHHS in a timely manner. Minimum Requirements Qualified applicants must be at least 18 years old. Bachelor of Fine Arts degree or bachelor's degree in special education, Psychology, Sociology or a related human services field with 4 years of experience in an art or music discipline. Have a clean background check. We perform a criminal background check, the Nebraska State Patrol Sex Offender Registry and the Central Abuse and Neglect Registry background checks. Working cell phone, internet access, an email account and general computer skills. Current valid driver's license with no more than 2 points assessed against license, and proof of insurance both maintained in personnel file. Reliable transportation insured in Nebraska and willing to transport artists in personal vehicle. Exceptional written and oral communication skills. Compassion, empathy and interpersonal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Master of Fine Art's degree OR Master's degree in special education, Psychology, Sociology or a related human services field with 4 years of experience in an art or music discipline. Demonstrate competence in applicant's respected art medium. Prior experience working in the human services field OR teaching experience. Prior experience with Therap and Electronic Visit Verification (EVV). Required Certifications We can accept certifications from other organizations but offer these training courses if you do not have them. Mandt Certification CPR/First Aid Certification Medication Aide Hours The studio is open Monday through Friday from 8:30am-3:30pm. Hours depend on each employee's AM or PM van route. Shifts are either 7:30am-3:30pm or 8:30am-4:30pm. The studio cannot accommodate around these hours. Employees must be willing to work full days even at part-time.
