  • Cultural Bytes | Los Angeles & Surrounding Areas, CA Cultural Bytes is a language and cultural enrichment program for children.
We are expanding our team of instructors for the upcoming school year and are seeking dedicated native Mandarin speakers to lead engaging, in-person classes for students in grades TK-5. Position Overview This is an in-person opportunity to share Mandarin language and Chinese culture with elementary-aged children in a supportive, structured enrichment setting. Classes take place after school in Los Angeles and nearby locations. We are particularly interested in international college students focused on child development or education, as well as individuals open to exploring teaching and enrichment work. This is a 1099 independent contractor position. Schedule

  • Runs for 6 weeks
  • Monday-Friday after-school availability required
  • Daily availability window: 2:00-4:30 pm (Actual instructional time is 90 minutes within this window; start times may be earlier on some days depending on the school schedule.
) Compensation Structure Each 90-minute class is compensated at a take-home rate of $54 . This is based on our program scale of $18 per assigned hour, with three hours allocated to each session. Paid training is provided at $18 per hour and is scheduled for late September. Attendance at training and delivery of a short demo lesson are required to be considered for placement. Our program eliminates the need for instructors to prepare lessons. Additional paid administrative tasks (some of which can be completed remotely) may also be available. Ongoing Opportunities Cultural Bytes runs multiple similar enrichment programs throughout the year across different locations in the Los Angeles area. Some placements may be at Catholic school sites; these positions carry additional screening or training requirements for those who wish to be considered for them. Requirements To move forward in the process, candidates must be able to provide:
  • At least 2 years of US college transcripts
  • Three professional references
  • Valid driver's license
  • Social Security number
  • Reliable internet access and a smartphone A background check and Live Scan fingerprinting are required (we can facilitate the process).
