Job Description

ICA Language Services is seeking an experienced Spanish language instructor to provide in-person instruction at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC) in Monterey, California. This position supports advanced-level government language training for post-DLPT/GRIT learners.

Monday-Friday, 7:45 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.
Pay Rate:
$30.00 per hour
Note:
travel, lodging, and per diem are provided for instructors not residing in Monterey, CA Duties and Responsibilities Plan and deliver Spanish post-DLPT/GRIT (Graduate Readiness Intensive Training) language courses using a variety of effective instructional methodologies to improve students' listening, reading, and speaking proficiency. Develop instructional materials and collaborate with instructional team members to support effective program delivery. Administer weekly quizzes, assessments, and other evaluations to monitor learner progress. Provide mid-course written progress reports and coordinate with supervisory staff to address instructional needs. Integrate instructional technology and online learning resources to support independent learning. Adapt instruction to meet individual learner needs, learning styles, and mission-related language requirements. Perform related instructional and administrative duties in support of the program. Assign homework tailored to the students' needs and designed to reinforce daily learning. Provide exposure to appropriate skill development, idiom, and variant. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in a foreign language, linguistics, or a related field Minimum of two years of full-time experience teaching adult language learners in an intensive setting (4-6 hours a day) Experience teaching post-DLPT or similar advanced-level language programs Experience teaching U.S. military or government language learners OPI minimum requirements:
Spanish:
ILR Level 4 or
ACTFL Superior English:
ILR Level 2 or ACTFL Advanced Low Familiarity with DLPT, OPI, and other government-administered language assessments Working knowledge of ILR and/or ACTFL proficiency scales Experience integrating instructional technology into language teaching and assessment Experience using online platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or Webex in teaching Security & Access Employment is contingent upon the candidate's ability to obtain and maintain access to a U.S. military installation. This includes a government security investigation, identity verification, and compliance with installation security policies. A security clearance is not required for this position.
