Bristol, CT Job Details Contract $30 - $45 an hour 6 hours ago Qualifications Teaching experience with English language learners (ELLs) ESL instruction experience Instructional adaptability English language learner (ELL) student support Classroom experience Adaptability Adult learning Teaching Adult language education Full Job Description Manufacturing ESL Instructor (Part-Time/Contract) Position Summary BristolWORKS! is seeking a dynamic and engaging Manufacturing ESL Instructor to deliver customized English language instruction to adult learners employed in specific manufacturing settings. The instructor will provide onsite, workplace-focused English language training designed to improve communication, safety awareness, reading comprehension, and job performance for employees whose primary language is not English. This position requires an individual who can tailor instruction to varying skill levels and incorporate real-world, on-the-job manufacturing terminology, procedures, and communication scenarios into the learning experience. Responsibilities Deliver interactive English language instruction to small groups of adult learners (typically 3-5 participants; although may vary). Customize lesson plans to address employer-specific terminology, procedures, and workplace expectations. Teach manufacturing-related vocabulary and communication skills, including: Safety and compliance language, Machine operation terminology and instructions, Supervisor-to-employee communication, Team communication and problem-solving, Reading and comprehension of work instructions, labels, forms, and basic documentation. Conduct informal assessments to identify participant skill levels and monitor progress. Utilize adult learning principles and a variety of instructional methods to engage learners. Incorporate role-playing, visual aids, and practical workplace scenarios into instruction. Maintain attendance records and provide progress reports when required. Collaborate with employer representatives to ensure training aligns with operational needs. Travel to employer locations throughout Connecticut to deliver onsite training. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Education, English, TESOL, Adult Education, or related field, or equivalent experience. Experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) to adults. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to adapt instruction to varying English proficiency levels. Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to employer locations. Preferred TESOL, TEFL, or CELTA certification. Experience teaching workplace ESL or vocational English. Knowledge of manufacturing environments and terminology. Experience delivering training in industrial, production, or technical settings. Bilingual abilities are a plus. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Understanding of adult learning principles. Ability to create customized lesson plans and instructional materials. Strong classroom facilitation and learner engagement skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple training assignments. Cultural sensitivity and commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic educational technology tools. Schedule Part-time/contract position. Summer Assignment Typical assignments consist of 1-hour sessions delivered three times per week. Daytime, evening, and early morning schedules may be available depending on employer needs. Compensation Competitive hourly rate based on qualifications and experience.
Typical range:
$35 -$45 per hour Physical Requirements Ability to stand and instruct for extended periods. Ability to travel to employer locations.
