Purpose Statement:
The Spanish Immersion Substitute will work in the capacity for which they are hired. As a Spanish Immersion teacher substitute, the individual will teach, train, lead, guide, and follow the lesson plans to properly educate the grade level(s) in their care. These also could be clerical tasks, supervision tasks, and class coverage tasks as needed. As a substitute, the individual must take ownership of the assigned role so that students are always well supervised and taught per the provided plans. In the Spanish Immersion program, the classroom environment becomes the setting for language acquisition through subject content instruction and social interaction in the language of Spanish.
Scope:
The position is multifaceted in that the individual takes on the tasks of another staff member who is absent. As a substitute, this person is in constant contact with children, school staff, parents, and church staff.
Specific Responsibilities:
Model Christ in word and deed while:
- Teaching Students with provided lesson plans
- Following CCA Staff regulations, guidelines, procedures
- Providing a safe environment for kids
- Assisting teachers with required tasks, duties, and class coverage
- Teach Spanish as a second language and the important aspects of Spanish culture.
- Serve as interpreter/document translator for teachers/administration who need to communicate with parents who are Spanish speakers.
- Must be proficient and fluent in both English and Spanish languages
