Competitive; based on qualifications, EIPA score, education, and experience Position Summary Staff Hub Global (SHG) is seeking a qualified American Sign Language (ASL) Educational Interpreter for a full-year assignment at High School in Evans, Georgia , within the Columbia County School District. The selected interpreter will provide accurate and effective ASL interpreting services to support a Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing student or students in the high school educational environment. This is expected to be a full academic-year assignment , requiring consistent attendance, reliability, professional communication, and a commitment to supporting the student's access to classroom instruction and school activities. Minimum Qualification - EIPA 3.5+ Candidates must have achieved a score of 3.5 or higher on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA). Applicants must be prepared to provide documentation verifying their EIPA score as part of the qualification and onboarding process. Essential Responsibilities The ASL Educational Interpreter will: Provide accurate ASL interpretation between students, teachers, school staff, and others within the educational environment. Interpret classroom instruction, lectures, discussions, student participation, questions, announcements, and other school-related communication. Interpret spoken English into ASL and ASL into spoken English accurately and effectively. Facilitate communication while maintaining the meaning, intent, tone, and educational content of spoken and signed communication. Support student access to classroom instruction while maintaining the appropriate role and professional boundaries of an educational interpreter. Interpret during classroom activities, meetings, assemblies, school programs, and other assigned educational activities. Adapt interpreting techniques appropriately to the student's communication needs, classroom environment, and academic subject matter. Work collaboratively with teachers, special education personnel, administrators, and other members of the student's educational support team. Maintain student confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries. Follow Columbia County School District policies, procedures, safety requirements, and applicable professional standards. Maintain dependable attendance and arrive prepared and on time for the assigned school schedule. Complete required documentation, training, orientation, and compliance activities.

Required Qualifications Candidates must:

Be proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) . Have a verified EIPA score of 3.5 or higher . Demonstrate the ability to interpret spoken English into ASL and ASL into spoken English. Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. Be capable of working effectively with high school students, educators, administrators, families, and other school personnel. Be available to work on-site at High School in Evans, Georgia . Be available for the duration of the full school-year assignment. Have reliable transportation to and from the assigned school. Successfully complete all required background screening, credential verification, and school-system onboarding requirements. Preferred Qualifications Preference may be given to candidates with: Previous experience as a K-12 educational interpreter. High school interpreting experience. Experience supporting Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing students. An EIPA score above the minimum 3.5 requirement. RID or other relevant professional interpreting credentials. Experience working with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or special education teams. Postsecondary education or formal training in ASL, interpreting, Deaf Studies, education, or a related discipline. Knowledge of professional standards and ethics applicable to educational interpreting. Work Location This is an on-site position . The interpreter should expect to work at the High School throughout the academic-year assignment. Compensation Compensation will be competitive and based on the candidate's verified EIPA score, qualifications, credentials, educational interpreting experience, and final assignment requirements.
