Immediately Job Description Teacher of the Deaf Immediate Openings Available + 2026-2027 School Year Opportunities This full-time faculty position follows CCCBSD's 204-day school calendar (37.5 hours per week). The annual schedule includes one orientation day in July, followed by 23 summer program days (Monday-Thursday) scheduled at approximately 30 hours per week during the summer session in July and August. The calendar also includes one additional orientation day in September and 181 school days during the academic year (Monday-Friday). Faculty benefit from a school-based calendar while participating in meaningful professional development, collaboration, and program planning throughout the year. As a Teacher of the Deaf, you will help shape meaningful educational experiences for Deaf and hard of hearing students with diverse communication, developmental, physical, and behavioral needs — empowering students to grow academically, socially, emotionally, and communicatively through accessible, individualized instruction. Your Impact CCCBSD is seeking classroom teachers with exceptional instructional and communication skills to join our highly collaborative educational team. These positions support Deaf and hard of hearing students ages 3-22, including students with developmental, physical, communication, and behavioral needs throughout their school day. Our classrooms maintain a small student-to-staff ratio of approximately 5:3, allowing for individualized, relationship-centered instruction and strong classroom support. Classroom placement will be based on program needs and candidate strengths. Teachers work closely with an interdisciplinary team of specialists including Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, BCBAs, School Psychologists, Assistive Technology Specialists, Adaptive Physical Education staff, Curriculum Specialists, and more. With interactive technology and communication supports integrated into every classroom, students access instruction through a variety of modalities including American Sign Language (ASL/bi-bi), spoken language, assistive technology, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). Key Responsibilities- Deliver high-quality, individualized instruction aligned with student IEPs and educational goals
- Develop and adapt instructional materials to meet students' unique academic, communication, developmental, and behavioral needs
- Create engaging, language-rich classroom environments that foster communication, independence, and academic growth
- Implement the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks using a variety of evidence-based instructional strategies
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate educational, behavioral, communication, and therapeutic supports
- Participate in IEP development, educational assessments, progress monitoring, and required documentation, including MCAS and MCAS-Alt as appropriate
- Utilize instructional technology, AAC, adaptive tools, and multimodal communication approaches to support student learning
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with families and caregivers to support student success
- Provide day-to-day guidance, support, and communication to classroom Teaching Assistants to ensure effective classroom functioning and student support
- Engage in weekly professional development, collaborative planning, and ongoing learning opportunities
- Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment aligned with CCCBSD's mission and core values What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required; Master's degree preferred
- Must be eligible for Massachusetts DESE licensure or waiver as a Teacher of the Deaf; licensed candidates strongly preferred
- Coursework or experience in Deaf Education, Special Education, Communication Disorders, Assistive Technology, Early Childhood Education, or related fields preferred
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) strongly preferred; strong communication skills across modalities required
- Experience working with Deaf and hard of hearing students and/or students with complex developmental needs preferred
- High comfort level implementing instructional technology and a range of language, academic, communication, and therapeutic supports
- Ability to provide a supportive, caring, and student-centered learning environment
